Today we’re going to break the mold…I’m going to talk about things besides running…ok well sort of…they all still tend to comeback to running. I tried. I’m a one trick pony.
A few months ago, my friends at Subway sent me the new Microsoft Band 2 and I was thrilled to put it to the test on some hikes and of course tracking my sleep in our new place.
(See a review of the Polar Loop, Fitbit Charge and Jawbone UP 3)
One of my favorite things about the Microsoft Band 2 is that it sends me text messages from my phone! I usually have my phone in a pocket and when it vibrates, I can’t help but be curious! It’s a Pavlovian response right?!
Now I can quickly see if it’s something I need to respond to like David asking “where have you gone?!”
Meanwhile David is excited to try it out when the weather warms up because one of the tiles you can get is for golf! Yup, it will track your swing and can give yo u all kinds of information to help improve your golf game. The band for me wasn’t quite as comfortable as other fitness trackers that I have tried. I think that’s because it needs to be wider to provide the great visual display and there is a bump to the band which allows it to provide the more accurate HR Tracking.
- GPS feature so you can truly track your run
- Bluetooth connection to phone for notifications from texts, phone calls, emails and calendar
- Apps – You can add apps like Subway to the band so that you know calorie counts of all food before you order! Additional apps from RunKeeper, Uber and others are quickly becoming available.
- Gorilla Glass means this bad boy won’t break!
When I’m not running…well yeah I’m still thinking about it! I loved spending Sunday after my long run with this beautiful new adult coloring book from Sarah Marie (who you might know as MissFitNYC).
Of course no afternoon of recovery is right without a little side of Justin’s Nut Butter!! I’ve been snacking on carrots like crazy lately because they are such a good filling food and provide me just a touch of sweetness.
I’ve been dying to get back out to snowshoe every since my trip to Snowbird, Utah a few years ago. Now I’m all set thanks to my friends at Sam’s Club who sent me and David the Mountain Tracks Snowshoe set. Fingers crossed we’ll be putting them to use really soon… the only reason we haven’t has been A. my travels B. unplowed roads near the snowshoe sites and our tiny Civic don’t mix. We’ll have a 4WD soon and then look out!!!
I would LOVE to actually get in to snowshoe racing! I love that to get us out the door this set comes in an easy carry bag, includes the shoes and the extendable polls and the large ratchets make them easy to secure while wearing my gloves and keeping my fingers toasty.DICK’S SPORTING GOODS GIVEAWAY
