13.1 Fort Lauderdale Race

Last year I ran my best ever Half Marathon at 13.1 Fort Lauderdale…I made an abrupt turn to cross training and after that and haven’t had a true race since then to retest my skills. So I am VERY excited to be signed up again to run the race on Nov 13, 2011.

This race finishes on the beautiful beaches of FTL…with sand sculptures, dancers, and beach chairs you can really make a day of just enjoying the finish line! It makes it fun for your family and friends too because they get a day at the beach to pay off their early morning of cheering.
The course allows you to run along the water much of the time and is truly at the PERFECT time of year for running in Southern Florida. The temperatures are perfect for shorts and tanks, while the humidity has dropped off!

In 2011, they will also have a Michelob Ultra Beer Garden for the finishers as well. If a cool brew is your favorite post race treat then does it get much better than a beer on the beach?

If you haven’t heard of the 13.1 series, you have either been far too focused on your marathon only schedule or hiding under a rock. Half marathons happen to me my favorite distance to race because I can train for them year round regardless of my schedule and I love distance running! Enough about me, back to the series
Here is a shot of the 2011 medal from one of the 9 races held around the country. (Race list) Since I know a lot of you love to run for the bling, this is a pretty awesome one to add to your collection! AND you can get even more rewards for running multiple races in the series!!!medal

I would need them to add a race either in DC (or Colorado for now while I temporally live here)! But I do have a bucket list goal to run a race in all 50 states from 5ks to halfs to maybe a marathon or two. This will definitely help jump start my goal!

Totally not entering so don't count me – BUT I love 13.1 races and I would so do this one if I wasn't an out of shape horrible runner! i hope whoever does win has an AMAZING time!! =D

I'm already registered for this race as my half marathon tune up race (so I'll be running it at MRP but that would sill be a slight PR for me), but could I enter for someone else? My boyfriend is coming to spectate, and would love for him to run it with me. This would be our first 13.1 race. I'm excited! I actually read your race report when deciding to register.

Hi, thanks for this opportunity, I ran this race last year and it was my first half ever, I had so much fun. I also ran the Miami Beach 13.1.

In case I can enter for him, I am also already did these:

    +1 Like 13.1 on Facebook
+1 For being an HBBC participant (you can still join)

And I am about to post a link to this on FB

+1 for liking 13.1 on FB
+1 for being an HBBC participant

I haven't run part of the 13.1 series, but I would love to run their race in Miami! I am a regular half marathon runner and would love to have an excuse to go back to Miami.

I have run this race for the last three years, and ran ING Miami Half and Miami Beach for the super cool 3 series medal. Sadly, I didnt take advantage of the blitz for this year and I really cant afford it now but would love to run it just the same :) 13.1 Fort Lauderdale was my very first Half!

I've never run a half series but like the idea. I would need a race in or closer to Ohio.

Next year my goal is to run 12 in 2012, a half marathon every month and it would be fun to incorporate a series.

I've never done one – they don't have any in my area. They would need one in DC or in the northern VA area. There are a lot of runners in this area so I think they could get a lot of participants.

I wish they would add Memphis to the series! I have never done a series and am running my first half in December.
I liked them on Twitter and Facebook.

I started running this to train myself for Federal law enforcement and can honestly say that this was one of the best experiences i have had. Have done Warrior Dash, Escape to miami olympic triathlon, and this… If your into sports and competitiveness, its a must do.

I have not run a 13.1 race, so this will be my first. My boyfriend ran it last year, and it was his first half. I was there as a spectator and it was an awesome race. I'm so excited to run it this year and I hope I win!! :)

I'm running my first 1/2 @ Ft. Lauderdale. Ran 10 miles yesterday and I am wondering if I will make it… Not sure how to pump out the next 3.1. See you at the Finish Line!!
