I mean this in the nicest way, but it seems that yoga makes me cry. I spend 99% of my time telling those who love me that I’m handling things just fine and truly, I am….I’m alive, I’m happy and I’m running.
Running allows me to pound out the stress of work, the anger at losing a loved one, the frustrations of someone’s dirty dishes and of course the sorrows of life. But yoga seems to open my heart in a different way which I am finally seeing is just as valuable.
When I find myself holding an intense posture and the teacher begins talking about breathing in to your tense spots…tears begin to spring to my eyes and I have the overwhelming urge to just cry. It’s not the miserable life is so hard kind of cry, but it is a recognition of the ache in my heart that I so artfully bury with constant activity and motion the rest of the time.
Anyone else find that yoga brings out emotions for them??? Don’t get me wrong, when I leave I am happy, fulfilled, totally sore and refreshed…so this is a good thing! I have also found that yoga is amazing for getting out lactic acid and massaging those overworked muscles…I might be sore at first but I feel incredible later. Here is a fun new toy that I’ve added to my yoga tool kit.
YOGA TUNE UP FULL BODY MASSAGE
I have been using a tennis ball for awhile on my foot and when ever my sciatica was really hurting about a year ago. However, as you might guess it breaks down and caves in…apparently it wasn’t made to be laid on. Yoga Tune Up is the solution to this issue! Oh talk about rolling out those sore spots, the foam roller is great for large ITB things…but these Yoga Tune Up balls (find them in my OpenSky shop) are perfect for the sciatica, plantar fasciitis and all over at home massage!!! Yes that is my Shabby Apple covered bum rolling around on the ball and it was divine.
I love that the athletic stretch routines are geared towards…well those of us that run, bike, hike, swim, etc! I know that a weekly massage would be wonderful, but my pocket book is much happier with a $40 at home kit that I can use while watching Real Housewives (don’t judge).
