This was one of the best weekends! Running, golfing, beaches, shopping and lots of time with David…from the top…
FORT LAUDERDALE BLOGGIE MEET UP
Friday morning I drove about 40 minutes to meet Abby (of Have Dental Floss will Travel) and her husband who were in town from Philly for a short run on the boardwalk. It was WONDERFUL to run with someone and just chat, plus this ensured me a place to stay when running the Philadelphia marathon!!!
GOLFING ON THE OCEAN
David and I decided to make a weekend in Palm Beach and one of the big items on his list was golf. We found this amazing par 3 course ON THE OCEAN!!! Did I mention it was $14.
I am not the world’s best golfer, but I love any excuse to be outside and it could not have been prettier on this course. After we finished the front 9, I took off for a short walk and David was able to get in another 9 holes.
BEACH, GARDENS AND MOREDuring our stay in Palm Beach we decided we LOVE it and want to move there. :) David found lots for us to do…
ALL WOMENS 5K
I picked out an all women’s 5K in Palm Beach…largely because it was small and my odds of doing well were high and that would be VERY GOOD for calming my racing nerves.
My race time wasn’t anything out of this world, but it was a 25 second PR for me. I think it would have been even better but the course was CRAZY curvy and you could see us all slowing down with the weird turns. I ran with the winner for a few miles post race and we talked a lot about how bizarre and yet lovely the course was. :)
For 1st in my age group (14th overall) I got a free manicure certificate and this cool shirt! I am also no more motivated to run my speed work, so everything about this race was what I needed.
Ok today I’m off to Chicago, then Kansas City later this week…expect lots of nice long runs in the cooler weather!!
