I will admit to being more of a Cyber Monday than Black Friday gal rush to the mall, but for those of you ready to shop your bums off in the next few days I wanted to share some creative fitness gifts to treat your health nut.
Last year I told you about the hottest new techy gadgets for the fitness fiend in your life {and you!}. Most of which are still not yet mainstream, but entirely fascinating…I mean Santa didn’t drop off a Boston Treadmill for most of us or sunglasses that talk so check it out if you still need ideas.
This year I wanted to answer the questions I get:
“What do I get someone who wants to be active? A gym membership seems…rude.”
”What do I buy someone who has everything?!”
”I don’t know her size, so what can I get?”
No doubt every runner loves shoes and most ladies enjoy a new outfit, but sometimes you want to get them something DIFFERENT… or at least I do! I love thinking outside the box for gifts that really show I thought about them.
While the saying is “it’s the thought that counts”…the truth is the thought only counts when they can see that you had the thought!! Whether you have a few bucks or a big ol’ piggy bank, here are some creative gifts that will show you put in a little extra thought to make them sweat.
At home fitness fiend: XFinity Fitness Band {$20}
No room or money for a full set of weights this funny looking contraption is sturdier than 90% of the at home bands I’ve tried. I could actually use this to assist pull-ups. Sold at Wal-Mart so look for deals this weekend!
- Features 6 levels of resistance just by changing the width of your grip
- 6 dynamic 20-minute workouts on 2 DVDs
- Includes Healthy Calories for a Fit Body
Stressed and Inflexible: Online Yoga for Athletes {$16/month}
Have a busy stressed out friend or a runner that can’t touch their toes?? A little yoga in their life might be just what they need, so while they are getting started this little package of goodies will get them started without a big commitment of time or money! The alignment mat and yoga block will help them master poses, while the yoga tote just makes them look more legit and removes any excuses!
You’ll automatically get 20% off your first purchase on the site, but with code runtothefinish you can get an additional 15% through 3/31/2018. At $12 a month for unlimited classes this is cheaper than a drop in to any studio I’ve found!
CycleOps Fluid Trainer {$300}
We may not want to admit we need to cross train, but we do and biking is one of the best options to give us our cardio wishes without the pounding. It’s also great for increasing our leg speed, so an indoor trainer allows us to get used to time in the saddle and hopefully take outdoors when the weather is better.
Family Act: Monthly Snack Box {$150 for 6 months}
Monthly subscription boxes have become a big 2013 trend and for good reason…it’s FUN to get packages!! This package will have enough goodies for up to 4 people, filled with products that are in line with clean eating principles and allergy friendly:
- Vegan
- Gluten Free
- Soy Free
- Corn Free
Allow your loved one’s to try out something new that might help them satisfy a sweet tooth or salt craving without undoing their hard work and great for the fitness friend who you aren’t sure what they can and can’t eat these days {yup I hear that a lot!}. Yes, I’ve tested these out and there are a lot of absolutely tasty treats! Send one or sign them up for a couple months to keep the fun going after the holidays.
Girlie Runner: White Gold Diamond Necklace {$52 + engraving}
Give her something she can wear every day to show off her love of the sport…and yes do the engraving!! Make this an extra special way for her to think of you every time she puts it on {hey Santa are you reading?!}.
An awesome Boston version is available too, so for those who aren’t ready for a life long tattoo this will last so much longer than most of the runner necklaces out there, which tarnish or look worn after a short time.
Dedicated to the sport: Race entry {$50-$350}
After sussing out what your friend or loved one has in mind for their racing next year, consider paying for an entry to a marathon, 10K, Ironman. You might be surprised at just how much they will love this gift because it gives them a definitive goal, while saving some dough!
If you don’t want to register them on your own {a little dicey}, look up the fees and print out the website page to package it with your check or gift card.
Works Hard, Plays Hard: Bike Tour {$1800- a lot}
Send your type A loved one on a vacation that will both stop them from spending every minute working, while allowing them to get their sweat on followed by a little zen.
Hopefully they’ll return refreshed and more connected to the world than the web…want to really enjoy this gift then go with them for the Vermont Long weekend tour when the leaves are falling. This is one trip where you won’t come home worried about weight gain!
Runs All Day: NordicTrack C 1650 Treadmill {$1200 on sale}
While it’s not quite the Boston Treadmill, it’s about the closest thing I’ve seen and at a more reasonable price for a durable treadmill that will go the distance. It’s got a 15% incline, 3% decline plus my personal favorite…a built in holder for your iPad.
Additioally, it has iFit {your thoughtful key to making this more than a machine} allows you to plug in a race course and run along with the treadmill adjusting incline and showing the course, so flatlanders (like when I lived in FL) can actually practice those NYC bridges!
Do you consider yourself a good gift giver?
How big is your list?
