I think one of the reasons I am so passionate about healthy living is because it’s the journey that never stops. I love learning new things and trying new things and figuring out what really works! Part of this process for me as been learning to supplement my whole foods with things that pack in the nutrition or can be taken on the go.
A few years ago I came across Brendan Brazier and Vega. I wasn’t sold on the flavor of the Whole Foods Optimizer powder, but after listening to him talk in person, following Thrive 30…well I was willing to look past that for the value that it provided to my body.
THANK GOODNESS they reformulated within a year and as most of you know I love the Vega Sport protein. What I’ve talked less about is that I also use Vega One powder and now to my joy they have put it in a bar! I’d like to say this brilliant idea was mine and that’s why I’m now a Vega Blogger Ambassador…but apparently these Canadians are way ahead of me when it comes to great ideas.
Should one live on meal replacement bars? Well of course not, but the truth is I like having one in my purse for long afternoons and sometimes when I just want a chocolately treat this is an option that I feel good about…I lead an active life and an active life requires fuel!
We spend so much time analyzing if we should or shouldn’t eat a food, instead of focusing on what it will do for us.
This is one of many reasons why I like Vega. I like eating something that I feel good about on so many levels. I truly believe that part of healthy living is enjoying what you eat.
Why I’m now using this as my pre-long run fuel:
- free from dairy, gluten and soy
- no added sugar, artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners
- a full serving of greens
- plus 1 billion dairy-free probiotics
- tastes good and clean, no chalky powdery taste or weird greens flavor
- 10 grams of protein
I’ve seen a review or two concerned about the fat, but I actually like it because these are GOOD fats. We need good fats to burn fat, to have healthy skin and hair and well the list goes on…so the fat here is from saviseed oil chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, nuts, and nut butters.
When you are picking out a bar what do you look for? Protein? Ingredients? Butterfinger?
I am grateful for the rise of companies who have a focus on creating a healthier world.
