and wiser that I get, my idea of healthy living has evolved to encompass body, mind and soul. A healthy body with an unhealthy mind will not remain healthy for long; a healthy mind living in a unhealthy body cannot remain so.
As part of my journey, I have undertaken meditation on numerous occasions because it can quiet the mind and help heal the soul. When BlogHer offered me a new game called “Deepak Chopra’s Leela” to review, I was thrilled to see what it might contain because I do respect his teachings.
“In Sanskrit, the word Leela means the play of the universe. Joy, creativity, insight, intuition, imagination, and inspiration come to us spontaneously when we are playful.” – Deepak Chopra
Leela contains two main sections: Play and Reflect. Each section takes you through understanding chakras and baby steps into understanding meditation.
The Play section is not my personal favorite because I don’t have much patience; you need patience to unlock each step to access more areas of the game. BUT if you don’t play you can’t unlock all the meditation, and of course patience is exactly what I need to work on, so I appreciate that it made me slow down. Play is not active, but slow thoughtful movements that revolve around a story.
I love that it teaches you all about the chakras. These are the energy sources throughout your body, and they each correspond to different things. So while the games may not be my cup of tea, I always love learning new things, especially about my spirit!
Meditation is my favorite section of Leela!! Deepak’s voice guides you through step-by-step instructions to help teach you an entire process and slowly build up the meditation time. He starts by guiding you through breathing, which in itself can be very relaxing because most of us don’t truly breathe deeply anymore.
Unfortunately I haven’t been able to unlock the Oracle section yet (hey I only had a weekend), so I can’t tell you all about it just yet. I have realized that one of the main things I need to do in life is SLOW DOWN. Games like Leela allow you to do that by focusing on different elements and allowing you to connect with yourself.
