Flight delayed: The inevitable ding on your phone that’s about to result in day of pulling out your hair…except occasionally!
Last Sunday, I was rushing through a consulting phone call to correct my dear old cats current pee on the carpet issue, when my phone pinged with a flight delay note. Conveniently this meant finishing my call with ease, arriving to find they shuffled the order and I was now Southwest group A04 and we still touched down in Baltimore at the original time.
What can I say, I still celebrate all the little things :)
But on to the seriously fun stuff! While sharing the trip on IG Stories many of you requested a recap and as always, it’s mah blog, I’ll write what I wanna, so a recap it is.
In January I joined a small tight knit group of UA Women’s athletes…I hate saying ambassadors because this program is so much more than what I’ve often participated in previously.
As with all things in life, I don’t know how long it will last, but I am genuinely impressed with the people, the program, the gear and the level of care they have for each of us. I can only hope I’m giving back in the same way.
Kym NonStop Workout
Does looking at killer abs motivate you to push your limits? Yup, me too.
But seriously beyond that Kym is an outstanding trainer because while she’s kicking every tiny muscle in your body, she’s cracking the lid on your mind too. Using hilarious songs and workout ideas, like squatting every time the song says squat and checking on anyone whose injured (eh hem) and always reminding you that you can do it.
But not in that cheesy teleseminar, believe it to achieve it way. In the, look you in the eye and make you feel it in your soul “you got this“.Kym is wearing the Opening Night Strappy and I’m totally ordering mine today…I tried to find out if I could order the abs too, but apparently not.
Kym is a fellow UA Women’s Ambassador, trainer, YouTuber and cyclist. Check her out! I can’t wait to try a few more of her YouTube workouts, now that I’m really and truly always cross training. That wasn’t the only workout of the week though, we also did a great spin class lead by a fantastic UA instructor. I’m completely in love with their on site gym and the fact that they can work with a trainer over lunch, shower and get back at it! Very cool to see a culture where the whole company is focused on healthy living.
Running the Harbor
Since getting the PRP injections in my knee, I’ve been too nervous to run outside. I never know if I’m going to walk 1/2 a mile and be in pain or make it through 4 mile run. But dang it, running is part of traveling for me and the weather was insanely perfect.
Thus, each morning I managed to head out for a couple of miles. One morning, I used it as an excuse to run errands…I picked up my Whole Foods breakfast while enjoying the water, the adorable brick buildings and the slow wake of the city.
Another morning, I ended up running lots of sprints as we did a photo shoot, which I can’t wait to share (keep your eyes peeled on IG). I was thrilled to do the shoot with a fellow ambassador, Sierra Prescott. Sierra is a professional photog, killer skateboarder and that person who just knows how to put you at ease when you really don’t know what the heck you’re doing.
Enjoying the UA Team
The entire UA campus blows my mind, which I talked about previously. But it’s not just the little details in the decor, it’s the people.
Have you noticed a theme when I travel? This introvert really does love connecting with people, especially good people.
Because our focus is on being part of the process to empower women, we’re surrounded by a core of women at UA that are pushing the envelope. They’re breaking barriers in the work place, they’re putting effort in to breaking the mold with women’s wear and how women are seen in sports. Not only are they busting their butts at work to get more women than ever loving to sweat and doing it in gear that makes them feel good, but they’re sweating the talk too! All of them have a passion for fitness whether it’s running, cycling or the old school slide.
Above is one of the coolest features of UA, the Make You Famous Wall. Which they use for all their stud athletes like The Rock, Lindsay Vohn and Stephan Curry…and us too! It was fun to see recaps of the year so far and find out that things like the article I wrote for MyFitnessPal really killed it for them! Since, I’ve also been running, hiking, training, yogaing (?!) exclusively in Under Armour gear, I thought this would be a great time to shout out a couple of my favorite pieces of gear. I know you often ask on social media and it’s not always super fast to throw out a link!
Running Comfort
SpeedForm Slingshot – You’ll be seeing these in a bunch of upcoming photos, but you have to touch them to really understand. While the heel to toe drop is a little more than I like for long runs, the softness of this shoe is incredible for my shorter runners. And I don’t mean the cushion, I mean the light feel and texture of the entire shoe!
Flattering Tanks
Breathe Muscle Tank – I’ve become kind of obsessed with these shorter crop tops and as discussed with Ambitious Kitchen find the wider tank tops are more flatter on a lot of us! I don’t know why, but do know it covers that weird little crease you get from your sports bra and your boob.
Long legs look
Color Blocked Capris – Ever have a moment where you realize you were ridiculously wrong?! And wish you could make your legs look longer?! Originally I thought a 3/4 capri breaking on me would just look like my pants were too short, but NO! My super long legs look even longer and I’ve notice that on others wearing them too. Of course they perform well too :)
Exploring Baltimore
This is the 3rd time I’ve been to Baltimore and while I’d admit, my time hasn’t veered far from the Harbor (besides the horse farm), I don’t really care because it’s so gorgeous!!! UA does an amazing job though of making sure part of our experience is getting to know the city. This absolutely goes back to the mindset of owner Kevin Plank who wants this company to help the city thrive and he’s certainly built it up.
First stop was our hotel, the Sagamore Pendry, which is directly across from the UA HQ on the harbor. This old warehouse was purchased and renovated by Kevin Plank into a stunning hotel! If you missed my IG stories I’ll try to put together a video, but each room basically looks out on the water and just has all the little touches that make it not just unique, but part of the overall Sagamore brand. Speaking of the Sagamore brand, one of our next stops was to tour the newly opened Sagamore Distillery.
The water used to cut the whiskey is actually from the spring that bubbles up under the Sagamore Horse Farm! We know I’m not a drinker, but it was still incredibly interesting to see everything in action, learn about the process and watch a lot of faces as their throats caught fire testing out the samples.
Long winded sure, what else would you expect from a distance runner! Here’s to many more great trips to share with you and as always let me know if there are things you want to know about UA gear or whatever.

I hope you went to the aquarium in Baltimore! It’s one of the coolest aquariums in the country, with penguins and a rainforest section and all sorts of other cool rooms. I was also surprised by how beautiful the harbor area is. The restored buildings (I didn’t realize one of them was UA headquarters!) definitely keep the classic architectural feel of an old harbor city, and I was able to walk a huge circle of about 7 miles without hitting any gross areas or bad parts of town. I’ll definitely be coming back soon!
