NYC Marathon Training and Gear: Bed Racing

I think part of my brain is still recovering from yesterday’s long run…so we’ll keep this recap short. It was an amazing week of solid workouts that left me feeling really proud of my progress and excited to see what’s next.

My long run was per normal done at a feels like of 93 degrees which made for a sweaty morning, but I did it!!! That’s right, I made it all the way through and still felt like I could have kept going. Minus one small detail…MY ACHING KNEES. When I came home and nearly collapsed my very thoughtful husband said hmm think those shoes are old? I looked at my pretty purple KSwiss and thought this man is nutz.

Then I realized I ran the Houston Marathon in them, yes the one in January. Before that I ran a couple half marathons in them last November. Yeah my shoes were toast. Whoops, bad runner! IMG_0280KSwiss
Seriously one day I’ll get a marathon picture where I don’t look like a race walker.

GROVE BED RACE

To put it simply…a bunch of crazy people turn beds in to “race cars”. Except that they can’t have a steering mechanism and foot power is the engine! Here’s a super quick video to show you what it’s about and some of the "cars”.
