Running Club App

Virtual runs are a lot of fun and I’m very excited about all of you who are planning to do the Run10Feed10 Virtually with me!! What has now made them even more fun is this new iPhone app called “Running Club”, which you can get for FREE on iTunes..

It allows you to virtually run with people anywhere! I am so going to talk some of my Oakley Ambassadors in to doing this with me more frequently because it will challenge me to improve my pace. But that is beside the point, my goal today is to give you an overview of the app so you know how it works for the upcoming run and so you can try it out for your own virtual runs!

MEET NEW FRIENDS
If you are looking for a little motivation, but don’t have a run club near you this is an awesome tool. You can find any public activity from a run to a bike going on and join! The app allows you to see where you are in relation to the other runners and to chat.

What only 1 other person signed up for my Virtual Race for Run10Feed10 so far?! Ladies and Gents…don’t worry I’ll remind you again…and again…anyhow here you can see a list of the events you are participating in and then the day of an actual countdown timer!! Since we know I don’t drink mine is more like “Running For Cereal” than brews, but fun all the same!

When you open the app on screen you’ll see Create Activity or Find Activity - search for Run10Feed10 to join that race! Alternatively you can hook up with friends by going to Friends and clicking the plus button.

MUSIC

I frequently run sans music…but when it’s time for a little competition be it race day or run club music definitely gets me going. The Running Club app integrates with the music on your iPod so you can actually pick a playlist, change songs or set it to shuffle.  No back and forth from app to app, just all in one.

COMPETE
While you are running the screen actually shows dots for where you are compared to the other runners!! I was dying to see this so I held my iPhone the whole time I was running and talking to David about it…he was with me so we shared a dot (awwe so sweet). Anyhow if you weren’t holding it, but just had it in your arm band it vibrates when you change positions!
runningspotchat
You might notice I’m not at the front of the pack…I’d like to blame this on constantly looking at the screen and trying to take pictures, but honestly my chat gives me away. I did a long HIIT run in the morning and wasn’t quite recovered to do this run.

The chat feature makes it easy do some trash talking or share some encouragement. You can do it before the run starts, during when say you are stuck at a stop light and then at the end.

Overall I would say for a free app this is pretty darn impressive! Let me know if you download it and we’ll sync up for a run!!
