Manna Sprouted Organic Bread

Sandwiches have long been one of my very favorite foods. As a child I went through phases of PB&J, followed by years of bologna and cheese.

Now I am in love with roasted veggie sandwiches and egg sandwiches and PB&carrots…but in all variations one thing remains the same BREAD! As David and I have traveled more I realized that not all bread is created equal and in fact I cannot stomach that 99 cent loaf, which used to be his staple when we were dating (gag).

During the Unprocessed Challenge I took another look at the bread we were buying and realized that while it might be 100% whole wheat…it was often a whole lot of other things I couldn’t pronounce. At the time I was a bit shocked and totally unsure of where to find bread that was shall we say natural.

Enter Manna breads!! First off they have fruit and nut bread and cinnamon date bread, which became an instant favorite of mine as it made for a healthy wholesome high fiber treat! Instead of an energy bar with unprouncable ingredients or even a cookie this very thick and decadent feeling bread was perfect.

But back to sandwiches, which was how this all really started. Manna Bread also has a number of great options to help you start replacing those highly processed breads (like whole rye which is also a wheat-free option). Because they are natural and unprocessed the fiber is higher and in some the protein is pretty darn good too. Of course most importantly, they taste amazing. Have you ever noticed that sandwich really hits the spot when it tastes better?

I will never be a Susie Homemaker that spends time every week making bread, but I do still want things that are as close to natural and as good for us as possible. Hence my love for this sprouted organic bread!

ORGANIC
I know I keep talking about organic fruits and vegetables, but here’s the deal not only do they taste better but it certainly can’t hurt to keep the toxins out of our food. Since I like the breads that contain dates and nuts, I’m happy to know they are certified organic.

BUY IT
Because it contains no preservatives you will find Manna Bread in the FREEZER section of most Whole Foods and healthy food stores. If you can’t find it there you can always order online, however you do have to order by the case (which is 8 loaves) so the average out to about $3.20 per loaf which is FAR cheaper than what I found at Whole Foods for breads that are certified organic. You can freeze them for up to 1 year.
