Rain Runner

South Florida was in a drought until recently when we have switched over to a steady state of rain…this works for me because I had some gear to test out!!

Columbia Sportswear one of my long time favorite companies because I learned about them during my time Journalism School sent me a new waterproof lightweight jacket to test out. First back to the J-School bit…I love this company because they have remained true to their customers and are serious about making AMAZING products. Now on with the jacket...

The jacket has zippers under both arms to allow for venting, amazing pockets inside, a light inner lining and of course the adorable hood that I am modeling for you. Now this adorable hood came with two problems:
A. While running the jacket came up to my chin and was either over my chin rubbing me raw or under my chin poking me constantly
B. Wearing the hood which totally kept my head dry kept all my body heat in too and made me overheat.

For me this is going to be the perfect jacket for staying dry on a walk, a hike, a boat, a plane, a train, a whatever that is not running. Luckily after testing out this jacket I was able to come home and help my shoes begin to dry out with my StuffIts!

I won these last year in a giveaway and they have been one of the best things ever because normally my wet shoes just sit around for days, instead now they dry quickly and don't smell.

How have you been handling the recent rainy runs? Do you get out in them or hit the treadmill? I have to say that it just depends on the day and the intensity of the rain for me. While in KC I was excited to meet a group to run, but the rain include lightning so I hightailed it out of there...but otherwise a summer rainy run beats a summer humid run in Miami!

I don't wear rain gear because I figure I'm just going to get soaked anyway, why not embrace it? But I do LOVE my stuffits. I ran in a downpour yesterday, so they're getting good use right now.

I LOOOOOVE rainy runs! The only reason I ever hesitate to run in the rain is because I'm addicted to my electronics- iPod touch and Garmin- and I don't want to ruin either...

Great review!

super cute jacket! all of the dc rain lately has been coupled with thunder, so I've been trying to run nice and early before the storms hit. normally i love a good run in the rain and will just go out in minimal gear and know I'm going to get wet!

I usually don't bother with rain gear.
I usually don't go out if it's raining before I start, but in the summer if I'm already out on my run and it starts raining, I stay out and enjoy what might be a break from the heat/humidity.

I had a good rain run last week, but then skipped my third lap of the course because I heard thunder, and high-tailed it back to my car.

I need some Stuffits!! I usually stuff newspaper in my shoes after a wet run!

Great review! Jealous that you got one to test out!!! :)

I have this great waterproof Salomon jacket I got on sale. It's amazing in this Dutch stormy weather. Weather has been insane in the last couple of days: glad that I could just grab my jacket and still get those runs in.

Although it may not be "experienced runner recommended," when we get a warm summer rain in Nebraska with no lighting, hail, or...tornados...I like to get rid of the shirt and take it all in! Being a guy, I guess I can do that from time to time. Thanks for sharing.
