Last night I attended an invitation only event by Shape and Revlon. I wasn’t sure what to expect and neither were the other 40 women who showed up, but it turned out to be a really great evening.![]()
REVLON MAKEOVERS
Revlon was providing free makeovers and headshots to all of the ladies. The amazing girl doing my make up seriously made me feel like a rock star!! She kept saying I have the perfect lip shape, perfect proportion of features and you know what I don’t care if she was being paid, we are best friends for life.
People usually ask me if I wear make up…to which I balk because I am usually wearing make up with they ask. So yes, all natural tends to be my style. Last night I decided to try out a more smoky eye and found that I really loved what it did for my eyes. Mr.BMX wasn’t so sure about this highly make uped babe…but that’s ok.
Here I am at the event after my makeover, at home prior to a face wash, completely sans makeup and then normal makeup. ![]()

Yeah no make up and normal makeup don’t look all that different. Hmmm things to ponder.
INSPIRATIONAL TALKS
When the speakers first began, I really wasn’t sure this would be anything worth hanging around for…but as always it truly was.
Girl on Top author Nicole WIlliams was just my cup of tea!! Hilarious, blunt, cussing and smart. Here are some of the best take a ways of the night…
People hire people who look like them. Stalk your potential workplace to see how they dress and it will help make sure at your interview you fit in, making them feel comfortable with you.
70 percent of your waking life is spent at work.. Doesn't that inspire you to want to love your job?
If you let people walk all over you they will. Amen sister.
What will motivate you? Visions of your perfect life? Regret of not doing it?? This is the one that got me!! The thing that usually gets me to conquer a fear is regret (got me in a dingy in Costa Rica for crying out loud). Looking at my life 30 years from now if I don’t take the chances now…is that the story I want to tell my grandkids?? Which would be bizarre anyways since I don’t have children.
Nicole is in the middle and is very expressive! I asked a question about finding your passion and talked with her more after the event…it is completely accurate to say she gave me a kick in the pants to just go do it.
NEW FRIENDS
Being as I attended by myself, I was determined not to spend the evening alone. Normally I would be too shy to go talk to people let a alone a group of girls…but darn it I’m tired of that mentality so I walked up to a group of 3 friendly gals and just asked if I could join them. They were so friendly!! One is a runner and another from St. Louis so we had a lot in common, plus it was really interesting to talk with people in grad school or newly married and just remember how old I’ve gotten.
Have you attended any events like this? Do you get motivated from listening to speakers? Seeing movies? Reading books? Let’s be honest they all seem to get my mind turning and hence the reason you see me always pursuing ways to continually live a better life.

Sounds like such a fun event. Congrats on breaking into a "girl group" I so know how intimidating that is!
Sounds like you had a lot of fun. You look beautiful in all the pictures! How fun to get a makeover though. And FREE stuff is always great!
This sounds like a great event.. I get totally motivated by motivational speakers.
Talking to new people is so outside my box. I get all red and want to pass out.... Good for you for walking up and saying hi..
This is a version of life that is so far removed from my own that it seems foreign to me. How's that for an honest reality? But this is something about my life that I want to change. And will.
It is amazing that you just naturally look that good!
Well done on introducing yourself to a group. It's so intimidating but you just never know who you might meet and how much fun you might have.
You look beautiful all four ways!
How do you get an invite to an invitation only event like that? It sounds like you had an awesome time & unexpected motivation is always awesome!
Honestly, I like your no-makeup and your own natural makeup the best. There's really nothing on you to "makeover" girl! Love ya!!
Sounds like a great evening! I've never heard Nicole speak but I did know a woman who works for her company and I love what Nicole is telling women! I love attending events with strong, inspirational women!
Sounds like a fantastic event! I've seen her book before and I wanted to read it... now I really do! She seems like my kind of gal as well.
SOunds like such a good time! Glad you had fun and found some inspiration!
Jealous!! You are so pretty with and without make up!
I look so different without makeup- people don't even recognize me. Darn reddy skin!
