While I am a crazy avid reader, I know many of you love knowing more about running…but prefer it in shorter snippets like Runner’s World Magazine. No doubt this is one of my favorite monthly publications, so I’m excited to tell you about the book I just finished.
Long May You Run: all. things. running.by Chris Cooper is like taking the best pieces of your monthly Runners World subscription and dumping them in to a book! That’s right, quick one page reads of tips on form, stories of great runners, best races to run, places to find information on nutrition and more!
Packed with fun tidbits like:
25 best running cities - do you know what ranks as #1? I do, I read the book.
How many days a week does the typical female run vs male?
Races under a full moon, races across a bridge, best races to run, women only races
Best race names (ex Freeze Yer Gizzard Blizzard Run)
Interspersed with all this knowledge are great quotes that make you want to be healthy, run fast and try harder! I’d say if you took the time to read one page a day from this book, you’d never be lacking in motivation to go run…and enjoy it.
“Long-distance running is particularly good training in perseverance.” - Mao Zedong
Maybe it’s just the title of this book that draws me in…truly my wish for everyone is to simply run as long and as much as they enjoy. SOOOO I want to make sure you have a chance to read this great book by giving one away! Chris will autograph a copy for you or perhaps for MOTHERS DAY (gentle reminder).

Running is my quiet time, my alone time. It is those moments out on the road before everyone else is awake! I want to have those times for years to come!
I want to run forever because it is the one type of cardio that I can see both progress as well as set backs (when I slack off) on a day to day basis. It is the one exercise that rewards keeps me for my dedication and keeps me accountable for my laziness. Its just too easy to jump on an elliptical when a tough run seems like too much work. I need to figure out a way to overcome the laziness!
