Form, stride, heel strike, arm swing, lean, pelvic tuck, short steps, long back swing…so much to think about if you really are working to improve your stride! For a long time I didn’t want to do this because running was just about getting out there and moving.
However, once I started to improve my posture and do yoga I realized that the correct stride would also allow me to continue running longer because I wouldn’t be trashing my body with poor movements.
Last month I was very luck to meet with Bryan Huberty for my first ever stride analysis. As mentioned in ChiRunning Tips from a Pro, Bryan teaches ChiRunning, which I really believe is a great thing to learn! Who doesn’t want to be a little more zen in their running, get faster and reduce injuries.

Things I learned…
Happy Saturday friends! I am out to enjoy more time with my family while they are soaking up the Florida sunshine. Thanks for all the amazing comments on why more women are running…fabulous thoughts!!

That was really cool! Thanks for the video, Amanda!
I'm having a giveaway for some movie tickets for a running documentary coming out in March. Could you tell your bloggie friends about the giveaway? http://lazybonesrunning.blogspot.com/2011/02/giveaway-for-my-run-documentary-one.html
Thanks,
Christina
How cool is that, Amanda? I have done a little reading on Chi running and determined I am doing okay but I do have room for improvement.
I am slow too, even though I feel like I am blazing. But I know over the last couple of months that I am improving at a safe injury free pace. I will take that just so I can keep running!
Thanks for sharing!
Wow. That made me REALLY seasick. lol But it was cool!
I wish he lived in Denver! :)
Great stuff to know about yourself!!
I am going to plug the minimalist shoes and say that your heel problem will problem will probably go away with them. :) That is if you are looking to correct that.
You do have killer legs by the way!
I'm discovering that I bounce and kick up my heels a little too much when I run (as evidenced by some serious mud splashes up the backs of my legs). Next up - figuring out to fix it!
By the way, I love the last thing you learned :) I'm terrible self-conscious about my calf muscles (and get annoyed with myself that I'm self-conscious of them), but yesterday I asked Brent to take a picture of me after our trail run so I can see all the mud, and when I looked at it, I thought, "well, my calves aren't so terrible after all." It was a nice feeling! I'm hoping it sticks around for a little while :)
Wow, interesting stuff! I would love to do this if I had the opportunity nearby!
Very cool - wish we had gait analysis around here!
that is so cool, one of these days i should get my form analyzed as well.
hope you're having a great weekend!
Thanks for sharing your video - very interesting. I read the ChiRunning book but it seems a difficult thing to put into practice without help. Let us know what you think about incorporating these principles into your training. Is it practical/sustainable?
Very cool!!
