I Want to be a writer

I’ve been tagged for many meme’s in the last few years, but I have to truly say thank you to Mallory because this one really triggered something big and important. It reminded me that my whole childhood, adolescence and college life was centered around me being a writer! I think this is part of why it’s so important to me that this blog reaches people and really makes people want to keep reading…it’s my outlet.

1. What's your favorite type of exercise clothing and why do you love it? I have become a bit of an Under Armour addict for running tops, BUT my McDavid compression pants still rock my world for post marathon recovery.

2. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up? What do you do now? I wanted to be a writer…like big people books, not kiddy books. I am now an eCommerce consultant, which is fun and challenging.

3. What's one "bad" thing that you just can't give up? Cookies…or maybe sarcasm.

4. What's your guilty pleasure tv show? Well this is just embarrassing…Real Housewives of Atlanta makes me laugh, they are so messed up. But my fav show is probably Rules of Engagement (again the sarcasm).

5. Were you always an athlete? When did you start and why? I have always been involved in sports… softball, badminton, dance, swimming, soccer, basketball, volleyball.. I tried it all and enjoyed the friendships. I was never ever a runner until college though!

6. How many meals/snacks do you eat per day? I eat non-stop from about 6AM - 11AM. I rarely eat a full meal, instead it’s just lots of little things. After that I enjoy more random food from 5PM-8PM.

7. What are your favorite pre- and post-workout foods and drinks? Pre or post long run I like my Heart Thrive bars because they are all natural, contain protein and calcium and enough carbs to fuel me up right. I also like Mix1 after really hard efforts because I can’t eat, but know my body needs to refuel so that my next workout is strong. (oh look at that Mix1 is an HBBC partner!)

BEING A WRITER writer
I really feel this deep down…I wanted to be a writer so badly as a kid that I wrote books and asked teachers to read them…FOR FUN. I kept notebooks of poems, I got on to the high school paper as a sophomore when only Juniors and Seniors were allowed…I was a journalism major for crying out loud!!

Why am I not a writer? Let’s see what some people around me might say:
My parents: You can’t make a living at that.
My boss: You don’t use commas correctly.
My husband: You are a writer, I see you write on that blog every day
PRE-RUNNER ME: I’m not good enough and I’m afraid.
NOW ME: I am a writer in many ways…just not at my ultimate goal yet. Now I know how to set goals and thanks to running, I know that I can push through obstacles…so look out friends a book may just be in the works.

TAGGING YOU
This was great…now I’m tagging some of you for these questions:
1. Are you a girlie movie? Action movie? or Comedy kind of person?
2. What is your favorite thing to do to “treat” yourself?
3. How much sleep do you need to feel your best?
4. What vegetable could you eat every day?
5. Dream place to run?
6. Last good book you read?
7. What was the best year of your life?

I was eating a Dove chocolate as I started to read this... the wrapper said, "If you can imagine then you can achieve." Seems fitting for you! Keep writing!

Wow that last part was great, I don't want to be a writer (although I would love to improve my writing), but I have other dreams that I feel I am not good enough at and am afraid to pursue.
This reminded me that we all feel that way sometimes and it is up to us to change that and pursue our goals no matter how scary.

1. Are you a girlie movie? Action movie? or Comedy kind of person? I am all of the above. My favorite movie of all time is Steel Magnolias
2. What is your favorite thing to do to “treat” yourself? a nice massage will do me good!
3. How much sleep do you need to feel your best? 8-9 hrs.
4. What vegetable could you eat every day? carrots.
5. Dream place to run? along the beach in Mexico on Christmas Day!
6. Last good book you read? It was a John Grisham book.
7. What was the best year of your life? so far, 2008-the year I got married! 1993 is a close second as that is the year I met my future husband. We are high school sweethearts.

You're definitely reaching people by writing on your blog!!

Also, I LOVE all things UA for running gear. I only wear their boyshort underwear for running and basically look like a billboard for them whenever I head out for a run.

I LOVE your answers! Funny, I wanted to be a writer too. I've got books upon books filled with things that I wrote. I think that's why I blog too :)

I always love reading your gratitude for the day! Love your blog. love your writing. Keep believing! You've obviously been given a gift and a way of expressing yourself that not everybody has....it just comes to down to truly getting rid of that fear that holds us all back and believing without a doubt that you will make your writing happen...you already are.

I'm glad you can see that you ARE a writer, and a pretty good one at that! I think that would be great if a book came out of all this writing!

These are always so much fun to read. I'm with you on the cookies all the way! I can't believe I've never seen any of the Real Housewives shows - probably for the best though.

You're a writer. Besides, writers don't necessary need to know how to use a comma correctly. That's what editors are for (at least that's the belief this newspaper reporter has)!
