Santa says NO

I think I’m having trouble recognizing that Christmas is here for two reasons:
A. It is 85 degrees, sunny and humid…uhh I’m used to freezing my tucus off right about now
B. Um I had to buy 3 presents and they were for babies…ok and I was too lazy to send my usual round of Christmas cards.

That being said, I am trying by doing the following:
* Decorated the apartment though not to the nauseating extent that I would like because I couldn’t bring all of my decorations…seriously I would deck the halls like nobody’s business if I had the storage.
* I point out every Christmas light and tree I see to David. Yup I made him take a 40 minute the other night to see a house that was all decked out because CHRISTMAS LIGHTS are one of my favorite things…watch out I feel a song coming on.
* Eating the special cookies my mum makes that we are only allowed from the day after Thanksgiving through New Years. I have even followed this rule and won’t make them other times!

PRESENTS universal
David and I stopped doing presents pretty early in our relationship and started putting our money towards vacations. In reality, we are soooo not materialistic that it is a problem at points….I have to throw out his shirts with holes or he will just keep on wearing them!

Anywho based on this, I booked a short trip for us to go to Orlando and visit Universal Studios on Christmas. We’ll get to see the Grinch which we love, hopefully visit with Meghann and you know whatever other cool things come our way…now that is a Christmas memory that will last me far longer than a gift…. UM EXCEPT my BEAUTIFUL engagement ring from the Christmas he proposed.

SANTA
All that being said…I want something to unwrap darn it. So I feel the need to make a list for Santa in case he does visit Florida.

Dear Santa,
Please don’t be scared of our unusually warm weather, I promise to still have cookies and some Rice Milk (partial drunk by the cats) waiting for you on the table next to my stuffed snowman serving as the closest thing to a Christmas tree in the house. Now it took me about three days to actually think of some “things” that I want, so I hope you can oblige me with something from my list, instead of a lump of coal.

* Sponsorship to races or for all my running…come on someone has to want to sponsor me!
* Dyson DC25 Animal Ball-Technology Upright Vacuum Cleaner – Seriously the pet hair is out of control…I would also take a maid service.
* Mizuno Wave Rider Running Shoe – Really when don’t I need running shoes? Though I am curious about these Newton’s people keep raving about, so if you brought those I’d run in them too.
* Vibram Five Fingers KSO--Ok this whole running form has me convinced I’d like to test these out
* Drymax v4 Maximum Protection Running Mini Crew -- Only socks I will wear for long runs and races, but I just got a hole in them so I need new one's!

All right Santa everything else I’d like is pretty big…like a trip to Australia, a personal chef, a creative idea that will make me rich and others very happy…hence the reason I tried to come up with a list of “things” for you.

With love and complete faith in your appearance,
Amanda

When we first moved to Hawaii from Connecticut. My daughter was 3 and she was afraid Santa wasn't coming because it was not getting cold and snowing.

im sure santa will oblige in some way and maybe even venture out into the warm weather :)

I like the idea of doing something or going somewhere instead of buying gifts. Sometimes I struggle so much with gifts that I end up buying a gift for someone that I don't even know if they will like!

I think that is a great idea to invest your money on a trip -- though I definitely understand wanting something to unwrap. Hope santa pays you a visit :) you've been a good girl!

So jealous of your weather... I haven't been brave enough to run outside the past few days. The weather isn't actually too cold, but the snow and ice and slush have me fearful...

I did electronic Christmas cards this year. I told myself it was because I'm trying to sustainable, but really, I'm too lazy to bring, address, and mail actual cards.

Warm weather doesn't keep Santa from coming, he enjoys it as a vacation break from all the snow.

It doesn't feel like Christmas here, either. It was 85 degrees in San Diego... but dry.

Sounds like you'll have a fun day on Christmas. Enjoy it!

P.S. I hope you get stuff from your Christmas list!

Yay for visiting Meghann! ;)

The weather has actually been pretty cool here the past couple of days. I hope it sticks around for your visit!

We don't do a lot of gives to each other either - the hubs and me. But our reasoning is a little different - we buy so much stuff throughout the year, that it just doesn't make sense to buy more just because it's a holiday. But, that doesn't stop us from buying one or two big things.. LOL

We stopping doing 'gifts' as well but do give stockings to each other. I asked my family for lots of running stocking stuff...they think I'm nuts. Have a great trip.

I've had a hard time getting in the spirit of things because of the heat too. Did it get cool for you this weekend? Night time lows in the mid-40s was GREAT for me!

I am so jealous of your nice weather...85 degrees!! It is 23 here today...not to bad but 85 would be better:) I want a maid service too!!!!

I wish I had known you were doing Universal! We could've met up!!! I did Universal for Christmas a few years back and it was so much fun! It's not nearly as busy as it usually is and Dr. Suessland is all dressed up for the holidays. They even make it "snow" :) Have fun!!!!

I'd like trip more than Christmas presents too!!

I think Santa likes to warm places too. He needs to warm up after leaving the North Pole!

I LOVE Christmas lights! We always go on a driving tour Christmas Eve on a hunt for the most tasteful and tackiest (my favorite) light displays!

We like to put money towards trips instead of buying each other gifts too. I think it's much more fun!

Hey, just saw your comment...Andy and I decided that if we have kids, we will only adopt. But seeing what my sister has gone through has us both so scared. I know it's a roller coaster but the shady stuff that goes on is terrible. I'm not sure I could handle it.
