30 Day Challenge 3

Challenge one was a big spanking success and challenge two certainly helped to keep my life on track when it was doing a complete 180. So now it is time to set forth my Birthday Challenge number 3 running from Oct 13 to Nov 12.

MIND:Read as many books as possible on business, ecommerce, retailing, etc. My focus in month one on ecommerce helped me grow tremendously, so I am very excited to keep expanding my work knowledge. Now you see why I needed to find a library so fast as well!! Truth be told...my long term goal is to be an adjunct professor at a college...so hey the more you know...uhh the better you go?

BODY:This is going to be hard due to the craziness going on....but not impossible and very very good for me. Hit the GOLD standard of 9 servings of fruits and vegetables daily. So I need to get a better handle on what the heck quailifies as a serving. After doing some research...it's all over the place!! Here is what I will generally go with:

Apple: 1 medium
Avocado: Half
Baby carrots: 12
Banana: 1 medium
Broccoli: 5 florets
Cantalope:
Spinach: 1 cup
Strawberries: 7
Sweet potato: half

In general FitSugar.com describes these very well:
•1/2 cup of fruit
•1 medium piece of fruit
•1/4 cup of dried fruit
•3/4 cup (6 ounces) of 100% fruit or vegetable juice
•1 cup of leafy vegetables
•1/2 cup of cooked or raw vegetables

Holy cow...time to get to planning!!!

SOUL: My initial thought was to write a letter to one friend a day, but I don't want people to feel like they are on a to do list. So really my goal is just to connect with a current friend or make a new friend everyday.

What challenges have you set forth for yourself this month, this week...today?!

You are doing such a wonderful job. Switching in books that are a bit more educational is always a good thing!

Wow, you're so ambitious!

I always wonder about fruit & veg servings - thanks for the guidelines. And good for you getting 9 yesterday!!

Congrats on your success in the last challenge. Sounds like it really kept you grounded during a CRAZY month! Good luck with the next one!

That's a lot of produce! Good for you. I always have a hard time sneaking in my veggies. Maybe I should make this my challenge for the month...

Your ambition inspires me and makes me feel lazy all at the same time! ;)

I really want to challenge myself to more mindful eating. I don't just want to be shoveling things in just for the sake of eating. I need to stop and think if I need to put butter on that english muffin out of habit or will it taste just as good without.

Great list. I am terrible or really good ;) at determining in my mind what a serving size is ... it is a lot bigger than these, especially if it involves bread or fries

We share a future goal. I would LOVE to be an adjunct professor one day. I am in the education field and was hoping to start in the next 10 years at the university level.

As always, you have such inspirational goals, and yet very obtainable. Thanks for the suggestions - the servings of fruits and veggies can be confusing!
Can't wait to hear how you are settling into your new routine and your new goals! ;)

Love the fruit and veggie challenge. I pretty much eat that much each day and I think you'll find it pretty easy to do. A cup of lettuce is nothing, a salad normally is several servings. But be careful, too. Cause a large piece of fruit or double serving of dried fruit is also double calories.

That's a great food goal! I often struggle with that myself because I can never find time to go to the grocery store. If I buy my fruit & veggies in bulk, once a week, most of it goes bad before I have a chance to eat it. Thanks for sharing what a portion is, very helpful!

My challenge is just to get through each day without making a total mess of it. I get it right about 60% of the time. But, I am still looking to find a 1/2 to sign up for, then I'll have some running goals (um, like to actually run, for example)

Good book recommendation that is business and social media related ... Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything.

Look at all those fruits and veggies! I think there's always room for more veggies in my diet. I need to remember to include them in all meals!

An adjunct professor - wow!! I think that's awesome! I really like your SOUL goal too.

My goal for this month is to be really focused and committed with my PT exercises. I want so badly for this injury to heal up so I can be running again, but it's all going to be worthless if I don't put in the work. Gotta strengthen up so it doesn't just fracture right when I start running again!.

I stay away from too sugary fruits. But apples are good and low on the glycemic index, as are most berries. Just what I do.

Great goals and glad to see you spanked the last ones. LOL!

I usually pick up a copy of Florida Race Pace Magazine. Or I go to coolrunning.com and active.com. Both of those sites are widely used. The halloween half is in Ft. De Soto. Would love to meet you!!!
