Nutrition/Energy Bars

First I hope you have entered the YUMMMMMMY SALSA GIVEAWAY...then enter this one too!

All of us healthy eaters sometimes find ourselves short on time or looking for something we can stash in a bag or purse for a snack later. Recently I have been lucky enough to come across two bars that just must be shared. Both are delicious and I love that they come from people who truly love nutrition and are both made by hand!!!

AGAPEDSCN0919 NUTRITION BARS
For my raw foodies, this is your bar! Like Prana and Boomi it’s a raw bar…but also made by hand with love from this wonderful woman Chef Carolyn. Seriously…food made by hand that is uncooked, moist, tasty and only 140 calories per bar…people I don’t know how it could get any better for your body or soul.

Agape nutrition bars comes in four flavors, of which I have now happily taste tested 3: Apple Cobbler, Blueberry Ginger, Cranberry Orange. These bars have been a staple on my quick flights lately to ensure I have a snack that just feels good in my body and fills me up with 5 grams of fiber and 6 grams of protein. Bars like this just get me excited reading the ingredient list and thinking, OMG I know all of those words and they are delicious!

I also just checked out Chef Carolyn’s raw weight loss system and I won’t lie…after tasting these I’m highly tempted to give it a go and see if it would help with these last few lbs and my running!! Any who if you are interested in your own taste of Agape check out her store, the bars are $30 for 12 and yes they are decent sized bars, so the pricing seems comparable to what I am seeing from other nutrition companies like Amazing Grass.

SOLSTICE BARS DSCN0981
Now friends…if you are ok with things being delicious, but not 100% raw…oh friends I have a treat for you. These bars are organic, natural, vegan and aptly called Solstice because they are out of this world. Goji berries, dark chocolate and peanut butter…really do I even need to tell you anything else??

Each bar averages 6 grams of fiber and 8 grams of protein…seriously made by hand…filled with wholesome ingredients. They aren’t super sweet, so they make a good treat that will not leaving you craving more treats.

In fact, Solstice was in the goodie bags for a number of celebrity events, DSCN0983which means not a lot except hello when the celebs are asking for them you know us commoners will be on the bandwagon soon…so you need to check them out! You can find a store via their website. The price is actually better than I have seen for many bars lately…per their site a case of 50 bars is $102…so $2 a bar, most are closer to $3.

Solstice also sent me a yummy blend that I mixed up with one of my nightly bowls of Kashi…mmm could you make a nice simple bowl of cereal any better? NO you really couldn’t.

For your chance to win these go here>>

Solstice bars sounds like a good addition to make to my diet. I've heard the good benefits of goji berries but never tried it out.

Mmmm... they both sound delsih! I would LOVE to try the Agape Cranberry Orange bar!!

Solstice Bars yummy I love the flavor list!

Meghann said...

You had me at Dark chocolate and Peanut Butter with the Solistce bars :)

TeriLyn said...

I want to try the Blueberry Ginger bar because it sounds unlike any other bar I've ever heard of! Plus Chef Carolyn kind of seems like an up&coming business (am I wrong?) and i like supporting smaller businesses.

Abby said...

Are these bars all soy free? I hate that so many energy bars out there are soy-based. They end up screwing with my stomach, especially during long adventure races. If these don't have soy, I'd love to try either of them!

Nobel4Lit said...

The blueberry ginger sounds good. I've always been into blueberry, and ginger I'm just learning to give a chance. I have been trying lots of "raw" bars lately (reviews coming on my blog soon!), and so far I like LaraBar best, but I'm open-minded to others!

Oh I can never chose anything else when peanut butter and chocolate is an option!!! But to be different, the blueberry ginger sounds great too!

I am following you on twitter, and your blog now :) Thanks for the great giveaway opportunity!

Both look and sound delicious! I'd be particularly interested in the dark chocolate Solstice bars.

Solstice bars--I can't think of a better combination than dark chocolate and peanut butter.

Danielle C. said...

I'd be curious to try the Solstice bars, am so curious about the Goji berries but haven't tried them.

Laura said...

Solstice Dark Chocolate and PB? The description says it best:
Of course, dark chocolate and peanut butter is a delectably classic combination, but the addition of dried apples, toasted cashews, and (of course) goji berries takes them to the next level of wholesome, lip smacking goodness.
Yum..

arielmaya said...

I'd like to try the Blueberry Ginger Agape bar because the ingredients sound great and I've never seen a bar with that combination before.

Ooh, orange cranberry sounds good but I can't be trying any new nutrition stuff with some big races coming up. Just stopped by to wish you luck on your big move from KC to Miami. The heat & humidity does take some getting used to, mostly how long it lasts (May-Nov, usually) but I've heard that Miami gets a nice breeze being on the coast. Orlando, where I am, has a more sticky, swampy feeling.

N.D. said...

I'd want to try the dark chocolate peanut butter solstice - the mochadamia sounds amazing too!

Marlene said...

Another giveaway! Are you trying to empty out your pantry so you don't have to pack all this stuff? ;)

I'm all about the SOlstice Bars. You had me at "dark chocolate and peanut butter."

Marlene said...

Oh man, I just realized I wrote pretty much the same thing as Meghann. I didn't read her comment first, I swear! (me=moron)

The Agape Cranberry Orange bar sounds awesome! That is my favorite flavor combination of all time. Of course, I don't need to lose wieght, but instead need to gain a few pounds. Maybe I could use the bar to get the extra calories I am suppose to eat.

Glam said...

I'd LOVE to try the Agape Nutrition Bars. Any of the flavors sound delish. I'm very interested in giving my body more of what it needs and less of what I want. I find myself grabbing fast food or other less than stellar choices when I'm on the go, and these seem like they'd be a wonderful substitute. Plus, I hear that raw is better for you, but can't seem to carry around a cooler of veggies, fruit, etc with me alllll day long.
I'm definitely going to look into getting some of these puppies! Thanks for the review.

I would love to try some new healthy energy bars. I need go to snacks to keep in my purse and briefcase. I look for bars that have relatively low calories and fat but high protein. And, I am in need of some new bars because I can no longer find my go to bars! Eek!

Ok so both products look tasty. I think the Solstice bars look better as a running snack bar b/c of all the protein. I would like to see the nutritional info for both though.

Thanks for hosting this awesome giveaway and coming by my blog!

Mmm, I'm leaning towards Solstice. I need lots of protein, and I'm always looking for chocolate energy bars that don't taste like chalk!

Freddie said...

ohh, I'd be more interested in the Solstice bars because I am not usually a fruity-bar lover, but they both look great!

ThatGirlRuns said...

I am mostly interested in the Solstice dark chocolate and peanut butter bar. The reason: well, if I had only one food to eat for the rest of my life and nothing else it would be organic, unsalted, crunchy peanut butter! And who would say no to a chocolate combination???

Keegan said...

The Agape Bar flavors sound delicious! I love a bar that packs a huge punch of fiber and protein without crazy calories. It's perfect snack size!

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) said...

I like that the Agape is only 140 cals, sometimes you dont want/need a huge bar. And I like that the Solstice has flaves that would rock my face off. Girl, I can't pick :)

I am already a follower.

I will link you back in the a.m.

Thanks for the blogroll add a week or two ago, forgot to thank you for that.

And glad you feel less like you "have to" get a dehydrator from my post. Whew. That was alot.

Hopefully I get my max stroke of entries b.c I really want some of these bars!!!

:)

Laura E said...

Both sound great but I would choose the Solstice Bars because they have a couple more grams of protein and when I eat bars I usually do for the protein. Also, the chocolate and peanutbutter flavors have me sold!

Abby said...

YUM... I love that the Agape bars are homemade.. I would certainly go for the apple cobbler or ANY flavor. I love hearing about new snackies!! :)

Nicci@NiftyEats said...

I think I would like the orange bar!!

i think both sound amazing, but if i had to choose, the agape bar because, really, ginger blueberry? yes, that is my flavor. i like that they are raw and mostly organic. plus, its great that the ingredients list is easy to read!

Entry #1:

Agape's Apple Cobbler sounds yummy, but I could never, ever choose that over the Dark Chocolate and Peanut Butter from Solstice. Chocolate and peanut butter is one of the best combos ever--so that's my choice!!!

Michele | aka Raw Juice Girl said...

Here's my entry for #3: I linked to this contest on my latest post!

I'm interested in the Solstice Bars. Why? Peanut butter and chocolate? Yes, please. Goji berries? Yes, Yes please. :)

Miz said...

no need to enter me (although you know, if you pull my name I wont protest :)) I just wanted to say how I love your gratitude words at the end of posts.

I am grateful for so many things...

Katie A. said...

Wow! You gave such an awesome review of both, I don't know which one to pick!
But since I am not a raw foodie girl, I think that the Solstice bars look great! I love granola bars and energy bars, but don't want lot of extra stuff in them since I have a sensitive tummy. This sounds like the perfect afternoon snack before I head home and go for a run.
Also, it looks like it might be a good way to fuel up before a long run with all the protein! The price isn't too shaby either!
Thanks for sharing! :)
And thanks for your daily blog, I don't always have time to comment but I love checking in and reading your gratitude journal - it helps me, too!
