For me goals are personal, I don't really need to share them to achieve them. I'm not doing them for anyone but me, so I don't need peer pressure to get there...so this I am sharing because I am EXCITED and I could really use the SUPPORT.
GOALS:
As I mentioned, it's time for another marathon...but I don't just want to run a marathon. I know I can finish a marathon, so now I need more... I could say I want to break 4 hours ...but really what I want truly and deeply desire is to BOSTON QUALIFY.
Wow. I've said it and now it's out there. I'm giving myself lots of time for this goal, so I can do it my way...
I want to run the 2009 NYC Marathon.
I want to qualify for Boston 2010.
I want to PR my 10K and Half Marathon races.
In order to do this, I'm going to be running a number of races to build up to the big qualifier... and my goal is to PR in all of those races. Additionally, to even get a shot at NYC I'm probably going to be joining Team in Training or some organization, so I'll be doing fund raising for the first time since I was in like middle school...am I going to have to clean houses? I mean how do you raise money at my age...HI, WOULD YOU BUY SOME COOKIES...that I didn't bake but bought at the store and marked up?

AWESOME goals!!! i am right there with you :)
i did fundraising for SFM and its really not that bad... plus you can have some fun events if you want, but really emails and letters to friends, family and co-workers did it for me!
Those are some great goals and I'm sure you will do AMAZING with all of them!! Maybe sometime this spring/summer I can come down to your neck of the woods and run a race with you! (Well, not with, I'm sure you're faster than me, but we could meet at the finish line. :) haha)
Wow, great job on setting your goals. I am sure you'll be able to achieve them! Good luck with training!!
Great goals! You're smart to put them out there. I really believe that making them public helps.
You'll do it!
Putting it in writing always helps make the goals real to me, so good for you for putting it out there! TNT is a very supportive group from what I hear, you'll have no problems with the fundraising and achieving your goals if you work with them. Good luck!
Woo hoo, those are some great goals! You are such a strong runner that I have no doubt that a solid BQ is in your future.
Alright! Go for Boston! Even if you don't meet ALL of your goals, you'll find the chase will be fun, intense, and empowering. And, before long, you'll accomplish what you set out to accmplish. Good luck with the chase for PR's!
I agree with aron - I got most of my money just by sending letters. My fundraising is one of the reasons I started my blog - to keep people posted on what I was doing including how fundraising was going. But I did send occasional "updates" to everyone on my list. Those updates informed people of my training ... but more importantly reminded them that they didnt donate yet :) Its a piece of cake!
I LOVE your gratitude journal - esp the last comment haha... but seriously, i think this is great you do this!
your goals are amazing and I know that you will complete each one!
You definitely have my support! As someone who considers herself a runner but thinks 7 miles at a time is A LOT (I think I run about 6 miles when I go out), I am in awe of anyone who even *thinks* about doing a marathon, or even a 1/2 marathon!
Awesome goals...I will say one thing. To qualify for Boston, I'd plan to run NY for fun and find a marathon earlier than NY that's smaller, and fairly flat...NY with the crowds and the hills not sure it'd be the best to make your goal. I say if I can do it, considering my start, you definitely have the abilities.
